Fire Pits & Outdoor Fireplaces in Stow, OH
A fire feature extends the patio season. When the Ohio evenings turn cold, a yard with a fire in it still gets used.
“Marcus and his team did a great job replacing a walkway in our backyard along with installing a patio for a fire pit.… Additionally, he installed plants through our front and back beds as well as installed river rock to help with water management. I have worked with Marcus before and always found him a good communicator. He and his team are here when they say they are going to be and don’t leave a mess when they are done. Marcus is a high integrity business owner. I would recommend him to anyone looking for landscape design and installation.”
Fire pits, fire tables, or a full fireplace?
A block fire pit built into the patio is the common choice, wood burning or gas with a steel ring or burner insert. A curved seat wall wrapping the pit gives everyone somewhere to sit. A full outdoor fireplace, framed, veneered in stone and finished with a heavy mantel, is a bigger build again, and we have built them under pavilions so the fire and the roof work together.
Why we design fire in from the start
A fire feature changes the layout of everything around it. Seating pulls toward it, traffic routes around it, and the patio shape should be drawn knowing where the fire goes. That is why the 3D design comes first and the fire feature is already in the drawing.
What moves the price of a fire feature
Prices step up from a wood-burning block pit, to a pit wrapped in a curved seat wall, to a full fireplace with a stone chimney. Gas adds the line, run by your plumber and coordinated in the plan. A fireplace adds footers, block framing, veneer and a cap, which is why it costs several times what a pit does. The design puts a number on the version you want before any block is ordered, and some clients build the pit now and leave space in the layout for the fireplace later.
This service is right when
- You want the patio usable in October, not just July
- You want a gathering spot the seating naturally wraps around
- You are building the patio now and want fire planned into it
When it is the wrong call
- You want a portable store-bought pit placed on pavers. Buy it, enjoy it, and call us when you want it built in
- Your HOA bans open flame. We will check the rule with them before designing around wood
How a built-in fire feature goes together
A built-in fire feature is a masonry project:
- A block core built on the patio's engineered base, never on bare ground
- A steel ring for wood or a burner insert for gas, sized in the design
- Gas run by your plumber, coordinated in the plan, before stone closes it in
- Veneer and caps matched to the seat walls and the rest of the yard
- Clearances set in the 3D design to your town's code
Where we build it
Most of this work lands in Hudson fire features, Stow, Twinsburg, Mantua and the rest of the towns on the service area page, all inside the circle we keep around our Mantua yard.
What you get on every project
- Every project is warrantiedThe structure carries a structural warranty, because we stand behind all of our work.
- Lawn repair warrantied six monthsOur machines can tear up grass during construction. We repair the lawn to its original condition, and the lawn repair is warrantied for six months.
- Permits and HOA approvals handledWe work with the city, the township and the engineers, sit in the meetings, and present the 3D drawing with locations and setbacks to the HOA board. You do not chase any of it.
- The price you approve is the priceYou see preliminary pricing with the design and final pricing before anything is ordered. Nothing starts until we have a plan and budget that you are comfortable with.
Fire Features questions, answered
Should I choose a wood or gas fire pit?
Wood is the campfire: cheaper to build, smells right, needs tending. Gas lights with a switch, burns clean, and never runs out of firewood at nine at night. We build both, and the answer usually comes from how you plan to use it on a Tuesday.
Can you build an outdoor fireplace with a stone chimney?
Yes. We frame the structure, veneer it in natural stone with a stone mantel, and have built them standing under pavilions as the centerpiece of a covered outdoor room.
Does a fire pit need a permit in Ohio towns?
Rules on open burning vary by town, and gas features have their own hookup requirements. We check the local rule as part of the design and handle what needs handling.
How far from the house should a fire pit be?
Far enough to meet your town's code and your insurance, and that distance goes into the 3D design rather than being paced off on build day. Wind, seating and the view get weighed at the same time, because a fire pit nobody sits at is just a circle of block.
Are fire features usable in an Ohio winter?
That is the argument for them. A patio with fire runs from early spring into late fall, closer to ten months than seven, and a gas feature lights on the first cold October night without anyone hauling wood.
What towns do you cover for fire feature work?
The same circle as everything we build: Hudson, Streetsboro, Aurora, Mantua, Stow and the rest of the list on our service area page. We stay close to the Mantua yard so Marcus can be on every site.
Does fire feature work pair with anything else you build?
Usually. Most projects that include fire feature work also touch outdoor kitchens & grill islands, and designing the two together is cheaper and cleaner than bolting one on later.
