“Marcus did a wonderful job painting a mural on my children's bedroom wall. He is detail oriented, and he finished the project with a perfectionist's eye. He was punctual and respectful, and I will definitely hire him for future projects.”
Walkways & Driveways in Streetsboro, OH
The front walk is the first thing anyone uses at your house. We build paver walkways, front entry landings, steps and paver driveways with the same base work as our patios, because a walkway that heaves turns into a trip hazard.
“Marcus and his team did a great job replacing a walkway in our backyard along with installing a patio for a fire pit.… Additionally, he installed plants through our front and back beds as well as installed river rock to help with water management. I have worked with Marcus before and always found him a good communicator. He and his team are here when they say they are going to be and don’t leave a mess when they are done. Marcus is a high integrity business owner. I would recommend him to anyone looking for landscape design and installation.”
What makes a front entry worth rebuilding?
Most of the entries we replace are cracked concrete with rotting timber walls around them. We tear it out, fix the grade, and rebuild in pavers with block or stone walls, a landing sized for more than one person, and plantings that frame the door. Our projects page shows one of these from the before photos through the 3D design to the finished entry.
Paver driveways and aprons
A paver driveway takes the same engineering as a patio with more base under it, because it carries cars. We also cut paver aprons and borders into existing concrete drives, which upgrades the look without replacing the slab.
Curves chalked on the ground before we cut
The sweeping borders in our walkway photos get laid out on site, chalked onto the laid pavers, and cut in place. That is the difference between a curve that flows and a curve that wobbles.
How a front walk replacement runs
Tear-out first, usually old concrete and whatever timber edging was rotting around it. Then the grade gets fixed and the same compacted base our patios get goes down, with the border curves chalked and cut in place on top of it. Lawn repair runs along both edges, warrantied like the rest, and we keep a path to your door open through the build.
This service is right when
- Your front walk is cracked concrete or too narrow to walk two wide
- The entry has grade, so it needs steps and walls done properly
- You want the walk to match patio or wall work we are already doing
When it is the wrong call
- You want asphalt. We are the wrong company
- You want a gravel path. We install gravel as part of larger projects, but a standalone gravel path rarely clears our minimum
How our walks and drives are built
A walkway is a small patio that gets more traffic, and it is built like one:
- The same excavation, fabric and compacted base as our patios
- More base under a driveway, because it carries cars and plows
- Borders and soldier courses laid out on site, chalked and cut in place
- Steps on block or stone bases where the grade calls for them
- Edges restrained so the borders stay exactly where they were laid
Where we build it
Most of this work lands in Hudson walkways, Streetsboro, Kent, Hiram and the rest of the towns on the service area page, all inside the circle we keep around our Mantua yard.
What you get on every project
- Every project is warrantiedThe structure carries a structural warranty, because we stand behind all of our work.
- Lawn repair warrantied six monthsOur machines can tear up grass during construction. We repair the lawn to its original condition, and the lawn repair is warrantied for six months.
- Permits and HOA approvals handledWe work with the city, the township and the engineers, sit in the meetings, and present the 3D drawing with locations and setbacks to the HOA board. You do not chase any of it.
- The price you approve is the priceYou see preliminary pricing with the design and final pricing before anything is ordered. Nothing starts until we have a plan and budget that you are comfortable with.
Walkways questions, answered
How much does a paver walkway cost in Streetsboro?
It depends on length, width, steps and walls. A straight walk is the simple end, a full entry rebuild with walls and a landing is a bigger project. Call and describe what you have and I can give you a range on the phone.
Can you replace concrete steps with paver or stone steps?
Yes. We tear out the concrete, rebuild the base, and set block or natural stone steps that match the walk. Old crumbling entry steps are one of the most common things we replace.
Do paver driveways hold up to Ohio winters?
Built on a proper base, yes, and they take plowing fine. We plow commercial lots all winter, so we build surfaces the way the guy pushing the snow wishes everyone would.
How wide should a front walkway be?
Wide enough for two people to walk together, which most builder walks are not. We usually draw front walks generously and let the 3D design prove it against the house, because a too-narrow walk is the most common thing we replace.
Can pavers or stone go over an existing concrete walk?
Sometimes. We overlay porches and stoops in natural stone when the slab under them is sound. A cracked, heaved walkway is a different story: overlaying a bad base buys a few years and then fails, so we tear out and rebuild instead.
What towns do you cover for walkway and driveway work?
The same circle as everything we build: Hudson, Streetsboro, Aurora, Mantua, Stow and the rest of the list on our service area page. We stay close to the Mantua yard so Marcus can be on every site.
Does walkway and driveway work pair with anything else you build?
Usually. Most projects that include walkway and driveway work also touch plantings, trees & shrubs, and designing the two together is cheaper and cleaner than bolting one on later.
