Paver Patios & Outdoor Living in Hudson, OH

Patios are the center of most backyards we build. Paver, bluestone or natural stone, sized to how many people you actually want to seat, with the base built for Ohio winters.

“…Does Absolutely great work.He built me a 14 x 16 paver patio and it’s absolutely gorgeous. Marcus is very easy to talk to and you’re able to reach out at any time. Definitely would recommend him.”

Multi-level paver terrace with sandstone block seat walls and steps behind a brick house
Paver terrace sweeping toward a pool, with sandstone walls, loungers and umbrellas

What is under a patio matters more than what is on top

Most people think a patio is like concrete: dig a hole, put down some gravel, and lay the surface. The base is most of the job. We excavate, run geotextile fabric to lock the base in place, build up compacted gravel, and screed the bedding layer before a single paver goes down. That base is why our patios stay flat through freeze and thaw, and it is what a structural warranty is worth anything on.

How long does a patio take to build?

Typically about two weeks, start to finish. A small patio right off a driveway can be three days. Bigger builds with walls and steps run longer, and I give you the schedule before we start. I tell clients it's gonna look uglier before it looks better. Then we clean up, repair the lawn, and hand it over.

What does a paver patio cost in Hudson and the surrounding towns?

Patios range a lot in scope and budget. It depends on the size, the access, and what goes into it. Seat walls, steps, lighting and a fire feature all move the price. I would rather talk through your project on the phone and give you a range that means something than print one here that does not.

Paver, bluestone, or natural stone?

Pavers carry most of our patios. They are engineered for freeze and thaw, consistent to lay, and they come in enough colors and textures to suit almost any house. Bluestone and natural stone cost more to buy and more to set, and they look like it, especially on an older home or next to our outcropping work. Plenty of projects mix the two, a paver field with a stone border or slab steps, and the 3D design is where you try the combinations before paying for them.

This service is right when

  • You want a patio sized and shaped to how you entertain, not a standard rectangle
  • Your yard has grade to deal with, so the patio needs walls or steps built into it
  • You want the fire feature, lighting or kitchen planned in from the start

When it is the wrong call

  • You want stamped concrete only. We build it with a concrete finisher we bring in, so it comes as part of a bigger project rather than on its own
  • You need it done this week. Good patios get built onto a schedule

What is under one of our patios

The base is the part nobody sees and the part that decides whether the patio stays flat. Every one we build carries the same section:

  • Excavation down to stable ground, well below the sod
  • Geotextile fabric so the base and the clay never mix
  • Compacted gravel built up in lifts, each one run over with the plate compactor
  • A screeded bedding layer, flat before a single paver is placed
  • Polymeric sand in the joints and restraint at the edges, so the pavers do not shift

Where we build it

Most of this work lands in Stow patios, Hudson, Twinsburg, Streetsboro and the rest of the towns on the service area page, all inside the circle we keep around our Mantua yard.

What you get on every project

  • Every project is warrantiedThe structure carries a structural warranty, because we stand behind all of our work.
  • Lawn repair warrantied six monthsOur machines can tear up grass during construction. We repair the lawn to its original condition, and the lawn repair is warrantied for six months.
  • Permits and HOA approvals handledWe work with the city, the township and the engineers, sit in the meetings, and present the 3D drawing with locations and setbacks to the HOA board. You do not chase any of it.
  • The price you approve is the priceYou see preliminary pricing with the design and final pricing before anything is ordered. Nothing starts until we have a plan and budget that you are comfortable with.

Patios questions, answered

What is the difference between a paver patio and a concrete patio?

Concrete is one poured slab, and when it cracks or heaves, the fix is ugly. Pavers are individual stones on an engineered base, so the patio flexes with the freeze and thaw and a repair means lifting stones, not cutting slab. We build both, but pavers are what we recommend for most Ohio backyards.

Will you fix my lawn after the patio is built?

Yes, and it is part of the job. Our machines can tear up grass during construction. We repair the lawn to its original condition, and the lawn repair is warrantied for six months. We do not leave a mess and call it done.

Can you add a fire pit or seat wall to an existing patio?

Usually, yes. We have added seat walls, fire pits and lighting onto patios we did not build. The first step is a site visit to check the base under it.

How much does a paver patio cost in Ohio?

Patios range a lot in scope and budget. Size is the biggest lever, then access, then what gets built into it: seat walls, steps, lighting, fire. You see the design and preliminary pricing before committing to any of it.

Can a patio be built in fall or winter?

Fall, absolutely, and it is the quieter season to book. We build into late fall, and the lawn repair establishes over winter. Once the ground freezes hard, base work stops being smart, and we would rather hold your project for spring than build it wrong.

What towns do you cover for patio work?

The same circle as everything we build: Hudson, Streetsboro, Aurora, Mantua, Stow and the rest of the list on our service area page. We stay close to the Mantua yard so Marcus can be on every site.

Does patio work pair with anything else you build?

Usually. Most projects that include patio work also touch retaining walls, and designing the two together is cheaper and cleaner than bolting one on later.

Reviews from Hudson Area Customers

JJohn Haluch
“Marcus and his team did a great job replacing a walkway in our backyard along with installing a patio for a fire pit. Additionally, he installed plants through our front and back beds as well as installed river rock to help with water management. I have worked with Marcus before and always found him a good communicator. He and his team are here when they say they are going to be and don’t leave a mess when they are done. Marcus is a high integrity business owner. I would recommend him to anyone looking for landscape design and installation.”

“I could not be happier with the work of Marcus and his team! From the initial quote, to the first day of work - Marcus was very communicative and you could feel his excitement for the job. I felt like the entire process was tailored to make our home look its best. Marcus did an amazing job of explaining each plant and how to care for our new landscaping. I am so excited to see this new scape bloom and mature!”
