Landscape Lighting in Hudson, OH

Lighting is one of my favorite jobs we do. It adds security, it makes the house look right at night, and it keeps a patio usable all evening instead of closing at sunset.

“…Marcus was reliable, highly communicative and on site daily to work with his crew on a water feature, stone pathway, multiple garden beds, plants, trees, and lighting. Everyone on his team were polite and hard working!…”

Why lighting is the best money on the project

If you spend serious money on a patio and put no light out there, you get to use it until the sun goes down. Add lighting and the same patio works the entire evening. Pair it with a fire feature and the space runs from spring into late fall. That argument is why I push lighting on almost every design.

What we install

Low-voltage Kichler fixtures. Path lights along walks, uplights on the house and trees, wall lights set into steps and seat walls, and a transformer you can program. We recently finished a stone walkway on a hill where the lights alternate up the entire rock staircase, and the client texted me the first night about it.

What a lighting project runs

Cost scales with the fixture count and how far the wire has to travel, so a small starter run and a whole-property system are very different projects. Call and describe the yard and you get a number that means something. The fixtures are Kichler, built to outlast the plantings around them. On a patio build the lighting goes in while the yard is already open, which is the cheapest time to do it.

This service is right when

  • You are building a patio or walk and want light designed in, wired before stone goes down
  • The front of the house disappears at 6pm from October to March
  • Steps or grade changes need lighting for plain safety

When it is the wrong call

  • You want solar stake lights. They are fine, they are also not what we do
  • You want holiday lighting. Not on the menu right now

What a lighting install includes

The hardware is straightforward. Deciding where each fixture goes is the job:

  • Kichler low-voltage fixtures
  • Path, step and wall lights where feet actually go after dark
  • Uplights placed to shape the house and trees, not flood them
  • Wire runs buried and planned before stone and plantings go in
  • A programmable transformer, set at handover so it just runs

Where we build it

Most of this work lands in Stow landscape lighting, Hudson, Aurora, Kent and the rest of the towns on the service area page, all inside the circle we keep around our Mantua yard.

What you get on every project

  • Every project is warrantiedThe structure carries a structural warranty, because we stand behind all of our work.
  • Lawn repair warrantied six monthsOur machines can tear up grass during construction. We repair the lawn to its original condition, and the lawn repair is warrantied for six months.
  • Permits and HOA approvals handledWe work with the city, the township and the engineers, sit in the meetings, and present the 3D drawing with locations and setbacks to the HOA board. You do not chase any of it.
  • The price you approve is the priceYou see preliminary pricing with the design and final pricing before anything is ordered. Nothing starts until we have a plan and budget that you are comfortable with.

Lighting questions, answered

Is landscape lighting worth it on a patio project?

It is the strongest yes I give. Without light the patio ends at sunset. With it, the space works all evening, the yard has depth at night, and the house has security light that does not look like a prison. Wiring during construction is also far cheaper than trenching it in later.

What brand of landscape lighting do you install?

Kichler low-voltage fixtures. Quality fixtures cost more than the big-box kits and outlast them by a decade or two.

Can you add lighting to landscaping I already have?

Yes. Retrofit lighting is a clean standalone job: fixtures, wire runs and a programmable transformer, without disturbing the beds much.

How much does landscape lighting cost?

It scales with the fixture count and the wire runs. We install Kichler low-voltage fixtures, so the cost sits above big-box kits and the fixtures outlast them by years. Lighting priced into a build is cheaper than trenching it in later.

Does landscape lighting raise the electric bill much?

No. Low-voltage LED fixtures sip power, and the programmable transformer runs them only when you want. What you pay for is the installation. Running them costs very little.

What towns do you cover for lighting work?

The same circle as everything we build: Hudson, Streetsboro, Aurora, Mantua, Stow and the rest of the list on our service area page. We stay close to the Mantua yard so Marcus can be on every site.

Does lighting work pair with anything else you build?

Usually. Most projects that include lighting work also touch drainage, grading & excavation, and designing the two together is cheaper and cleaner than bolting one on later.
