Water Features & Ponds in Kent, OH
Water features tie straight into the stone work we love. A pondless waterfall spilling over a sandstone slab into river rock, a stream running through a bed, a fountain in a courtyard.
“Marcus and his team at Lasting Impressions did a phenomenal job transforming our backyard. He listened intently to our ideas and created an amazing design that was shown to us before the project. His creativity and execution surpassed expectations! …Marcus was reliable, highly communicative and on site daily to work with his crew on a water feature, stone pathway, multiple garden beds, plants, trees, and lighting. Everyone on his team were polite and hard working!… Marcus went above and beyond with a sincere passion for perfection. We will definitely use Lasting Impressions in the future!!”
What is a pondless waterfall?
The water falls over stone and disappears into a bed of river rock, where a hidden basin recirculates it. You get the sound and movement of falling water without the maintenance of an open pond, which is why most of the water features we build are pondless.
Built with the stone, not next to it
A water feature that looks right is nine tenths stone placement. We build the falls out of the same hand-picked sandstone we use for outcroppings, so the water coming down looks natural. One of our clients had us build a water feature into a stone pathway with garden beds and lighting around it, and that mix is where these features shine.
Where the water goes in the yard
Placement decides how much you get out of it. We put the falls where you will hear them, close to the seating and the kitchen or bedroom windows, because a waterfall at the back fence is scenery instead of sound. Moving water also covers road noise better than a fence does, which matters on a busy corner. That thinking happens in the 3D design, where the feature gets placed against the patio and the sight lines instead of dropped wherever there was room.
This service is right when
- You want the sound of water in the yard without pond maintenance
- You already have stone work or beds the feature can grow out of
- You want a courtyard fountain as a focal point
When it is the wrong call
- You want a swim pond or a koi pond with filtration. That is a specialty we will point you to
- The yard has drainage problems. Fix the water you did not ask for first, and we do that work
What a pondless waterfall is made of
A pondless waterfall works because of the parts underground:
- A buried basin that holds and recirculates the water
- A liner under the entire run, hidden behind stone and rock
- Spill stones picked and set so the falls sound right
- River rock over everything, so the water vanishes instead of pooling
- A seasonal shutdown and spring restart we walk you through at handover
Where we build it
Most of this work lands in Kent water features, Mantua, Aurora, Stow and the rest of the towns on the service area page, all inside the circle we keep around our Mantua yard.
What you get on every project
- Every project is warrantiedThe structure carries a structural warranty, because we stand behind all of our work.
- Lawn repair warrantied six monthsOur machines can tear up grass during construction. We repair the lawn to its original condition, and the lawn repair is warrantied for six months.
- Permits and HOA approvals handledWe work with the city, the township and the engineers, sit in the meetings, and present the 3D drawing with locations and setbacks to the HOA board. You do not chase any of it.
- The price you approve is the priceYou see preliminary pricing with the design and final pricing before anything is ordered. Nothing starts until we have a plan and budget that you are comfortable with.
Water Features questions, answered
How much maintenance is a pondless waterfall?
Not much. There is no open water, so no algae bloom and no fish care. You keep leaves out of the basin area and top up the water level now and then. It is the low-maintenance way to get falling water in an Ohio yard.
Can a water feature run in winter?
We shut most of them down for the freeze and start them back up in spring. It is a short job and we walk you through it at handover.
Can you add a waterfall to my existing landscaping?
Usually yes, and it works best when we can tie it into existing beds or stone. A site visit tells us where the water and the power want to come from.
How much does a pondless waterfall cost?
It scales with the stone and the drop. A short spill over one ledge into a rock basin is the entry point; a stream with multiple falls is a bigger build. The recirculating hardware is the small part of the price; the stonework is the feature.
Do water features attract mosquitoes?
Not the ones we build. Mosquitoes need still water, and a pondless waterfall keeps the water moving and drains it into a covered basin between runs. It is the sound of water without the standing pool.
What towns do you cover for water feature work?
The same circle as everything we build: Hudson, Streetsboro, Aurora, Mantua, Stow and the rest of the list on our service area page. We stay close to the Mantua yard so Marcus can be on every site.
Does water feature work pair with anything else you build?
Usually. Most projects that include water feature work also touch fire pits & outdoor fireplaces, and designing the two together is cheaper and cleaner than bolting one on later.
